Andrew, aged 22 from North Shore, has just completed a Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning Support (Primary).

He’s wanted to become a primary school teacher since doing work experience in a school, and is currently working as a teaching assistant.

He chose the College because he has studied here before and enjoyed it, and says that the course was a good way for him to get into teaching.

Andrew says

“One of the best things about the course was meeting new people in a similar situation to me. I found it helpful to hear about other people’s experiences and different points of view.

"Although I work as a teaching assistant and am used to being in a teaching environment, I feel much more confident about it since starting the course.

"The most challenging thing for me was completing the assignments and working to deadlines, but it’s improved my organisational skills which I’ll definitely need when I’m teaching!

"I’m going on to St Martin’s College next to top up my Foundation Degree to an Honours Degree, then I’ll be a qualified teacher.

"College has been a good experience for me, and I’ve already recommended the course to other people. It’s worth the hard work and it gets you where you want to go. I couldn’t think of anywhere better to learn.”
