Liz has been working for the past few years as an advertising officer, and has previously had a lot of customer service work experience including managing a call centre. She started her foundation degree last year in order to gain a qualification to back up her work experience and to progress further in her career. She plans to continue with her studies and complete the BA (Hons) in English, Language and Literature.

Liz says “The course has given me loads more confidence, and I’ve really enjoyed learning new things and meeting new people. I’ve always hated doing presentations and within the first three months of the course I had to write and produce a Powerpoint presentation. I was really nervous but I overcame this and I actually enjoy doing them now. I also enjoy joining in debates whereas I felt I didn’t have the knowledge or confidence to do so before. "I have two children and I’ve found it quite challenging juggling work, coursework and family life. I was worried about doing exams as I’ve always struggled with revision, but the tutors were really supportive and helped us with revision techniques. "This course is great for anyone who has had loads of work experience but has no qualifications to back it up, as much of the coursework is based on your own job. Class sizes are small, the tutors are really friendly and give you loads of time and support. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, specifically having some “me” time when I can forget about everything else and focus on my course. It’s been great to use my brain again and I’ve found the whole experience really motivating.”
