Marianne is undertaking her Foundation Degree on a part-time basis, while working as an Evening Receptionist and Teaching Assistant for a supply agency. In a ddition to balancing her work and study, and looking after her family, she also had to undertake two different voluntary placements in order to fulfil the requirements of the course, and has taken a mentoring course to offer assistance to other students and the mentoring co-ordinator.
Marianne has worked with three different age groups; sixth form, adult and Year 6 pupils in a primary school. She feels that she has gained in confidence in her role as educational support assistant, and has successfully progressed from a voluntary placement to a paid support role in education as a direct result of her Foundation Degree.
